For centuries, ballet has captivated audiences the world
over. From its humble beginnings in the courtyards of Italy and France, to the
great stages of the eastern and western worlds, ballet has secured its position
among great paintings, literature, music and sculpture.
Ballet is one of the most physically demanding, complex and
visually stunning of all dramatic art forms; combining music, scenery,
costumes, lighting, and intricate choreography, all for the creation of a
visual tone poem, in which the dancer utilizes the body to bring music to life.
Students who study ballet
develop self-motivation, self-discipline, poise, grace, physical adroitness,
and an appreciation for the arts, which they carry with them throughout their lives.

Ballet Initiative has many objectives to achieve in the future. While training students in the art of ballet, whether they go on to become professional dancers or supporters of the art form, BI will connect the art of ballet to the community through collaboration and partnership.
